While AKMU is sweeping music charts in and out of the country since their debut after two years of absence from the music scene, American FUSE TV shed spotlight on AKMU.
AKMU
released new album “SPRING Vol.1” on May 4 at 0 o’clock. Recently,
American FUSE TV drew big attention by extolling AKMU, saying, “The duo
look poised for domination again with their just-released Spring EP that
dropped today (May 3)”. Plus, FUSE TV introduced AKMU in its “Teen
Takeover Week” series for which LEE HI marked the beginning, to talk
about what LEE CHAN HYUK and LEE SUHYUN feel about their comeback and
AKMU’s new album.
LEE
CHAN HYUK said in an interview with FUSE TV, “The new album's title
translates to ‘adolescence’ in English. I’ve already gone passed this
stage in life, but there are songs that I recorded in this phase and
also stories looking back at this time. So, I think that all the songs
in the album will be highly favored by teens.”
AKMU
also gave a message of consolation and hope, saying, “It’ll always be
difficult. From elementary to high school, and even as an adult, the
pain and hurt we must face will grow. Some of you may be in trouble with
studies. Others may be facing a situation where you have to give up
something you promised yourself. I believe that these people need deep
sympathy and understanding from friends and people of similar age. I’m
no different to you. Look, we’re in similar situations. I’m fighting my
best too.”
LEE
CHAN HYUK and LEE SUHYUN also said, “Akdong Musician will continue to
make songs for those people out there who need understanding, sympathy
and support.”
AKMU
sings about a variety of feelings that anyone experience in their
everyday lives, from their special point of view. “RE-BYE”, one of the
double title tracks of AKMU’s new album, is a jazz pop song that
expresses a wish not to be hurt by repeated small and big partings in
life. It has an outstandingly catchy chorus part. “How People Move” is a
song of a funky sound, which sings about curiosity that arises from
other people’s everyday lives. The double title tracks well-reveal wide
spectrum of AKMU’s appeals.
“RE-BYE”
swept No.1 place on the real-time chart of eight major music-streaming
websites in Korea upon its release, marking successful comeback of AKMU.
AKMU also boasted their enormous influence on charts overseas as well,
taking No.1 place on iTunes albums chart of Hong Kong, Singapore,
Taiwan, and Thailand. On May 6 at 8am, the third day after the album’s
release, AKMU’s new songs are staying in top place on 7 music charts,
enjoying continuing popularity.
In
the meantime, AKMU will present the performance of “RE-BYE” and “How
People Move”, the double title tracks of their new album, for the first
time since their comeback on May 8 in SBS “INKIGAYO”.
